: In line with the advocacy of the government to provide free quality education to every Filipino, Dominican School, Manila, in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepED), formally launched the Alternative Learning System (ALS) last March 19, 2012.
ALS is an Educational Program implemented by the Department of Education which aims to offer a viable alternative to existing formal instruction encompassing both the non-formal and informal Systems of Education. Basically, ALS provides access to education opportunities for the Out-of- School Youth and Adults by engaging in a meaningful collaboration with different agencies to facilitate the delivery of its program. The nationwide implementation of ALS program is an effort of the government to attain the goals of education for all by 2015 (EFA 2015).
In view of ALS’s full implementation, Dominican School, Manila has undergone the following stages of preparation:
Training of Instructional Managers
Preparation of modules / facilities
Soft Launching (motorcade)
Ongoing Training of Facilitators / Teachers
