Dominican Sisters USA Holds Representatives Meeting

MI, April 3, 2009: The Federation of Dominican Sisters USA held its Annual
Federation Representatives Meeting the weekend of March 20th. About 35 members
attended.
The meeting includes representatives of both leadership and membership of
Federation congregations. Thirty out of the 48 representatives attended
representing 19 of the 24 Federaton congregations.

SABINA, April 3, 2009: For
more than 30 years, the justice and peace structure of the Order has been
evolving. Today, the International Dominican Commission of Justice and
Peace consists of the Friar and Sister Regional Co-Promoters for each of the
five continental areas of the world, the delegates of the two Dominican NGO's
at the United Nations, the Socius for Apostolic Life, the International
Coordinator of Dominican Sisters International and the two International
(General) Co-Promoters for the Order. This IDCJP met from 25-30 March
2009...
The World Forum on Theology and Liberation was held on January 21 to 25,
2009 in Belém do Pará (Brazil).
The city was also preparing to receive immediately after this, the World Social
Forum. The theme of the first Forum was: “Water,
Earth and Theology”. Its objective was to promote a debate among different
theologians from various parts of the world, who are worried about the serious
issues affecting both humanity and our planet...
“Death of a Nation” is documentary about the situation
in Zimbabwe, Africa, where our Dominican Sisters work. This was made
by the Solidarity Peace Trust, which most religious, including Dominicans,
support. We give thank to all those generous people who sent
their donations to help this poor country.
